Day 16
Today’s the day we’re going on a cruise to tour along Chang Jiang I suppose, but the main attraction was the 3 Gorges. We all had to meet at 6.30am at out hostel lobby and boarded the bus.
We stopped by at some restaurant in Yi Chang, and the food was just a little above average I would say. But the interior design was rather nice!
Damn, the bus ride was really a killer to my butt! By the time we reached the “cruise” it was already about 8pm. but before we all (21 of us) could board the boat, more than half was stopped outside the gate 'cause the staffs were unhappy that the tour guide didnt inform them how many of us were entering. So being the first few fast movers (only 7 out of 21), we had to wait for them in the boat. 'Golden Sun' was the name of our "cruise". After that big commotion, Ms Neo assigned us to our rooms. Mei Xiu and I were given room 428, but we ended up in room 426 ‘cause we remembered the wrong room in the end and went into TeeLi and Amanda’s. After we settled down, we started to take the DVDs we brought and started watching as it was really boring.
But not long after, we spotted some weird bug on the wall and both Mei Xiu and I didn’t dare to go near it. So Fathullah was being nice and brave to help us get rid of it.
Success!
Reflection:
I felt I’m somehow near to achieving my tolerance for discomfort of the new environment. I no longer complain (or maybe VERY minimal) about the environment and hygiene, which is a personal improvement record for me. As the toilet conditions here are seriously bad and disgusting, we tend to make faces or speak our unhappiness out loud, but the locals would just enter the toilet cubical like naturally without making any noisy or faces. Though I’ve been longing to return HOME as soon as possible, but having to stay abroad alone in such laid back country for 6 weeks, I would more or less miss the experience I had in Wuhan when I return home.
