Day 8
Lesson as usual, and we were ALMOST late for class. I don’t wanna pay 10rmb for being late again so we ran all the way! Haha! Apparently, some were late and they didn’t have to pay. This is so unfair! Whatever! So Ms Neo was being soooo nice to release us early today again coz more and more of us is getting sick, and so we were released at 12pm. As the day was still early, our group decided to be adventurous and planned to walk all the way from 建设一路 to 建设八路!along the roadside, there's even shoe shine service! i'm gonna try that before i go home! haha!
3rmb for 15 wonton! ;D
flowers starting to bloom.
along the way, i saw puppies and kittens for sale. who know if they might end up in some brew soup. yuck! i miss my dogs real bad now, and luckily they're not born in china. "heng ah!"
see the banner? it reads : dog meat steamboat! really gross and cruel!!!
At night, Wu Di brought us to visit his room at the male hostel as they were saying how nice and good our rooms were since day one we met them! So we wanted to know how BAD theirs were. And yup, we were all shocked the minute he opened the door. 6 beds (double deckers) in a room, no bathroom, broken cabinets, 6 lousy study desks, super thin mattresses, no internet connection, and most importantly no heater (known as air-con in Singapore)! Just look at the pictures below:
They have to go to the public toilet to bathe and wash up, and they still have to pay extra money if they want hot water for shower. I then realised how lucky we were at our dorms. We only had to share 3 in a room, with our own bathroom and SHOWER HEATER, personal internet ort beside our beds. Though our mattresses are also super thin and we have the same lousy study desks, I no longer complain. LOL!
Reflection:
Throughout the walk, I realised most of the toddlers wear a pants with a big hole at the bum. It looks funny but I recalled mum telling me that the kids there wear that so they can easily release themselves. Plus, I’ve read a blog post by the previous batch of OIP students mentioning and posting a picture of a small boy pooping in the middle of the streets. The amazing thing was that no one even bothered. I think it’s just so wrong to do that regardless of your age, ‘cause parents should be responsible for their child. I don’t think this kinda things would happen in Singapore, ‘cause Singapore is a ‘Fine & Fine’ country. LOL!

p.s: i found out from our local student that dog meat is not commonly eaten by students nowadays, it's only commonly eaten by the older generations. but still, it depends on personal preferance. At least i found out about the dog-meat consuming in China, and know that there are dog lovers who still exists in China because i'm one hard core dog lover and i couldnt accept the fact that people eat dog meat. :(
